Megan Ruch was born and raised in Albany, NY. She resides at the Artist Barn in Downtown Albany. She has had a love for painting and was a self taught artist at a young age when she first started painting with watercolors with her grandmother's encouragement. Her bright color palette expresses a surreal, representational view of her subject matter to emphasize the fun and joyful perspective of life. Megan is inspired by artists who have embraced a surreal imagery that gives a fantastical feel to the real world. Her goal is to depict an inviting image that makes the viewer want to escape into this whimsical world she has created.

"Spending time in our cottage in Antigua and camp in Lake George, NY, along with swimming in a swim team here at home has created a deep fascination of nature, water and all it's surrounding elements. Water has been my main subject in all my work; how it moves and how it reflects light."

Megan has a degree in Advertising Design where she attended Cazenovia College in Upstate, NY. Her work has been shipped worldwide; domestically to California and New Jersey and Internationally to Ireland, South Korea, and Florence, Italy. Her work was been published in a Loudonville and Latham art magazine in November, 2013. She was a featured artist and art consultant at the Sorelle Gallery located in Albany, NY.
